Dalmore says: "Twelve years maturing in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, then a three year finish in three different sherry woods - Amoroso, Apostoles and Matusalem oloroso. A robust, yet elegant spirit".
We say: this is a step up in class from the excellent 12 year old. Because itís a Highland malt, you expect a little earthiness in there and this is more evident here than it is in the 12. We did a vertical tasting with the 12, 15 and 18 and we all agreed that this was the version we preferred out of the three.
The Whisky Tasting Club Notes:
Nose: Lively, light and fresh (surprisingly). Pineapple. Spiced apple. Tropical fruits. Lemon skins.
Palate: Rich and voluptuous. Lively and spicy. Cleansing and oaky. Citric and mouth-puckering. Licorice and lightly smoked.
